LONDON, October 9. England beat Australia by 23 points to 21 in the first Rugby League test at Headingley today, after leading by 11 points to 6at half-time. The game was fast and clean. Graves, Churchill, and Mulligan played brilliantly for the Kangaroos. McCormack and Foster starred for England. A crowd of about 38.000 saw the match. , , Tries were scored for England by Foster (2), McCormack (2), Pimlett (2), and Valentine. Ernest Ward kicked a goal. For Australia, McMahon (2), Froome, Graves, and Hall scored tries, and Graves kicked three goals.
