CROQUET SEASON IS OPENED BY COBDEN CLUB
The Cobden Croquet Club opened its season at Cobden on Saturday. Representatives from all. district clubs were present as well as members of the West coast centre, the Cobden Bowling Club and the Cobden Women’s Bowling Club.
The president, Mrs Higgins, extended a welcome to the visitors and expressed the hope that the season would be a successful one. Mrs Duncan played the first ball. During the serving of afternoon tea, vocal solos were given by Mrs McCarrigan and Mr T. Halliday. The winners of the various competitions were as follows:—Putting, Mrs Mercer; croquet in the rain, Mesdames Lemon and Alderson; rugged hoops. Mrs White,sen; treasure hunt, Mrs’Galbraith; round the clock, Mrs Higson.
