OLYMPIC CHAMPION TO TOUR AUSTRALIA

The Olympic woman champion, Fanny Blankers-Koen, of Holland will compete in the Australian chsftnionships at Sydney next January. according to the Sydney Daily Telegraph which announces that she has accepted an offer by a syndicate of sportsmen to tour Australia. The spokesman for the syndicate says that she has agreed to a national tour from Perth to Brisbane and that she will travel to and from Australia by air. • J , The tour has been sanctioned by the New South Wales men’s and women’s Amateur Athletic Associations. N.Z. May Seek Extension Of Tour From Australia (P.A.) ■ WELLINGTON, This Day. The N.Z.A.A.A. has had no advice of the forthcoming Australian tour by the Olympic woman champion, Mrs Fanny* Blankers-Koen (Holland), as reported from Sydney. The chairman of the New Zealand Association (Mr H. I. Austad) said today that it the tour eventuated he had no doubt his association would make every effort to secure an extension of the tour to New Zealand. ... Mr Austad added that Australia had accepted an invitation to send a team of athletes to New Zealand following the Australian championship meeting in Sydney next January.
