SEMI-FINAL TRACK WORK AT TRENTHAM

TRENTHAM, March 16. A heavy ground fog blanketed the course at Trentham this morning, and. it was possible to time only a few j of the gallops over seven furlongs and a mile. After a good rain on Monday: morning the sting was out of the going, but the track was hard and it is doubtful if there was enough ram to have any lasting effect on the going. Foxella worked over a mile m 1.4 b, being brought home over the last half-mile by Super Tax. - Lord Theio was four lengths clear of Distinction in 1.35. Distinction was sore, on pulling up, and is not likely to'be at his best for the New Zealand St Leger. . Magnaform and Dark Arrow, which were not engaged last Saturday, ran seven furlongs in 1.31, a good gallop under the conditions. Lady Christine, and Delinquent were together at the end of six furlongs in 1.20 4-5. Lady Christine is engaged in the St Leger. Kartikeya showed his appreciation of the changed state of the gbing when he struck out freely over a mile in 1.47. If there is similar going next Saturday he will keep his opponents busy in the St Leger. Indian Dawn was restricted to light exercise. She sprained her near hind fetlock joint when she fell near the finish of the Autumn Handicap last Saturday, and it depends on what progress she makes in the next lew. days whether she will start in the President’s Handicap on Saturday.
