FOR WOMEN INSTITUTE MEETINGS

Dobson W.i. , There was a good attendance at the March meeting of the Dobson Women’s Institute. Mrs G. Smith piesided. One new member and two visitors were welcomed. The motto for the month was “Your home is hke a mirror, it reflects you.” A birthday invitation was received from the Moana Institute. Shoulder sprays were presented to the president, secretary (Mrs Mellett) and treasurer (Mrs Peters). An interesting demonstration was given by Mrs Peters of making a mat from silk stockings. The social half hour competition was “Sing, say or penny pay.” Supper was served by the hostess, Mesdames Shore, Thurston, Ritchie and Pickering.

Competitions resulted as follows: Patchwork article, Mrs Mellett 1, Mrs Roberts 2; jam, Mrs Deans; “Wandering Florin,” Mrs Cowan. Blaketown W.I.

The annual meeting of the Blaketown W.I. was held on March 10. Mrs Moreland presided over a good attendance of members. The Rose Bowl, presented to the member gaining the most points in the monthly competitions, ■ was won by Mrs Gorden. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs Lpngstaff; Committee, Mesdames Milliard, Innis, McDowall, Gorden, Maughan, McNee, McEnaney, Stewart, Dowdall and Airey. A demonstration of pastry making was given by Airs Steele, and a flower competition was won by Mrs McDowall. The “wandering shilling” was won by Mrs McEnaney. Personal Notes Mrs F. H. Denton left today on a visit to Christchurch. Miss K. M. Hopkinson left today on a holiday visit to Christchurch.
