MR DEAN RETIRING FROM N.Z. COMMITTEE

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 11. Mr S. S. Dean said this evening that he had definitely made up his mind that he would not seek re-elec-tion this year as a member of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, of which he has been chairman for many years. Many requests have been made to Mr Dean that he stand for election to the New Zealand Rugby Council and his commment on this question tonight was: “I am giving it consideration and it is just possible that I will seek election to the council. There are certain factors upon which this depends, and I cannot give a definite decision at the moment.’’ Mr Dean could not become chairman of the council as that office must be filled by a member o thfe executive or management committee.
