WOOL PRICE DOWN AT NAPIER SALE
(P.A.) NAPIER, This Day. Prices for greasy wool among the 43,000 bales offered at Napier today when the first portion was submitted to a full bench of buyers reflected the easing tendency of London and late Dominion sales. Growers estimated the decline to be in the vicinity of 6d per lb less than they would have received at the January sale, but the rostrum commnt was to the effect that the market was firm on late sales, with a hardening tendency for better-styles fleeces. Bidding was inclined to be erratic and was animated only when large lines of reputable standard came forward. Quite frequently small parcels were neglected, particularly if they were of inferior quality. Pieces, necks, bellies and lambs’ wool all appeared to be cheaper, but crutchings made a fair sale at up to 281 d per lb. Greasy fleece wool made up to 30d, but there wore a number of passings and lines occasionaly did not receive a bid.
