SPECTACULAR FIRE AT PETONE CAUSES OVER £1000 DAMAGE
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A spectacular blaze occurred in an old wooden building at Petone early this morning, gutting a clothing manufacturing business premises and severely damaging a grocery store. The fire brigade saved the building from being burned to the ground. The upper storey was occupied by the La Premiere Softgoods Manufacturing Company, owned by Mr R. J. Banner, who estimated his loss at about £lOOO. The ground floor was rented by Mr J. Kyle and was used for a grocery business.
