EIGHTH ARMY MEN IN BRITAIN’S CRISIS'
(Rec. 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 23. . “At tills serious moment in Bri-r tain’s history, the men of the Eighth Army must set the standard for the nation,” said Field-Marshal •Montgomery at the Battle of El Alam ein reunion in Albert Hall, London. “What we did in the early forties to save ourselves from Hitler, we can do in the late forties to save ourselves from debt and shortage. “• Let us be strong and force the fighting on the side of true democracy and show an example to the nation s youth,” he said. His Christmas message to the Eighth Army in Italy, 1943, contained the phrase: “When peace comes, I would like to think the Army's team spirit will be a factor for good in the unsettled, difficult days.” The time had now come. The Eighth Army man must be a strong point in the nation, standing firmly for honesty, teamwork, loyalty, ana hard Work for Britain’s good and showing the spirit of attack and enthusiasm. _______
