IRAQI ARMY READY TO ENTER PALESTINE IF BRITISH LEAVE
(Rec. 12.35 p.m.) BAGHDAD, Oct. 23. “The Iraqi Army will enter Palestine if the United Nations adopts partition,” said Salih Janur, the Prime Minister today. “I assure you they will enter Palestine in minutes in the event of the British' forces withdrawing. The Arab forces will fight any force that tries to prevent them. “A holy war is most necessary, he added, “to save Palestine. It would be better for Arabs to die than to accept partition and the establishment of a Zionist state. I regard Palestine as the first defensive line of the Arab world. Our fight for Palestine is a fight for Iraq and any other Arab state. . “I ask every Iraqi able to fight to prepare for the zero hour,” he concluded. A Jerusalem message stated that hooligans today assaulted the 21-year-old daughter of one of the mos. respected members of the Jewish community, because she was seen associating with Englishmen. They .shaved her head, tarred her face and beat her, breaking a bone in her hand. „ , ~ The attackers, who called themselves “defenders of the Jewish faith,” escaped.
