AYRSHIRE MINERS REMAIN ON STRIKE
1 LONDON, September 26. The Ayrshire miners who had been expected to resume work, decided to remain on strike until October 2 to test a statement, alleged to have been made by union leaders, that they would sacrifice their special holiday pay apd bonus unless they returned to work today. The miners, at a general meeting, protested strongly against the union leaders’ attitude and demanded that they should explain their conduct. The Daily Telegraph says that some Scottish pits resumed yesterday, but the strike spread elsewhere. The dispute has already cost more than 50,000 tons of coal. The National Coal Board announced that by noon yesterday 43 pits and men were involved in the strike.
