GOLF MEMBERSHIP OF GREY CLUB APPROACHING 200
The Greymouth Club declared its season open during the week-end with a mixed foursome over 13 holes, which was won by Mr and Mrs Jack Smith with the excellent score of 49 nett. The club’s links are now in excellent order, the full course being open for play, and they reflect great credit on the greenkeeper. There has been a considerable increase in membership which is now approaching the pre-war total of 200. Several lowhandicap players have joined up and these, ’ with intermediate players rapidly attaining senior grade, will add greatly to the playing strength of thd club. A full match programme will be played this year, with club visits to Hokitika, Reefton, Ikamatua (home and away), and also a visit to a Christchurch club. Through prudent and careful management the club has successfully survived the war period and membcrs can loolc forward to bcttei and brighter golf.
