West Coast Fourth Grade Matches With Canterbury

When a letter from the CanterburyRugby League’s Junior Advisory Board requesting that a West Coast junior team play Canterbury at Christchurch on June 3, was received at last evening's meeting of the West Coast Rugby League, it was pointed out that matches had been arranged for this grade last season, and the fourth grade was due for consideration. It was ultimately de-cided-to suggest to Canterbury that ! fourth grade teams be matched and that a Canterbury fourth grade team visit the West Coast with the senior team next month.

Mr B. F. Connors presided over the Board of Control members and delegates.

The transfers of J. J. Ward (Addington to Marist) and T. Franklin (Blackball to Marist) were approved, subject to the approval of the clubs for whom they last played. Accounts totalling £360 were passed for payment. It was decided to call for nominations for three selectors in the senior grade and sole selector in each of the ’senior reserve, third,, ‘and fourth grades. It was decided that timekeepers be appointed on ail grounds to act in conjunction with the referees, with the exception of Wingham Park, where an official timekeeper will be appointed. Mr W. Meates was appointed timekeeper for next Sunday. Four nominations were received for the f(fth grade competition (under 16 years of,age or under Bst 71b), and it was decided to commence, play on April 27.

The National Broadcasting Service, writing in connection with the broadcast of football results, suggested that all results'be forwarded to the Greymouth studio before 9 o’clock each Sunday night for broadcast after the news session, and that after representative matches a brief resume of the play be given by a

member of the League.—The secretary, Mr T. McKenzie, was deputed to discuss the matter.
