Labour Delegate’s Complaint
(Rec. 11 a.m.) BERLIN, Dec. 5. Mr. William Doherty, vicepresident of the American Federation of Labour, blamed the well-known iron curtain” and “Communistic influences” when he told reporters that the Russian and French authorities had refused permission for the federation delegation to enter their zones. The delegation has been studying trade unions in Germany. ..xx Mr. Doherty paid a tribute to the co-operation received from the British and „ American authorities. He attributed the ' French refusal to permit delegation to visit Mainz to the advice of Communistic influences within the World Federation of Trade Unions.” Mr. Doherty expressed the opinion that the four-Power Government was a colossal failure. He said the fear of reviving German industrial capacity was “the biggest bugaboo of all time. German industry must be revived.
