R.S.A. CONFERENCE

DISTRICT REHABILITATION OFFICERS • DECENTRALISATION PLAN (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 30. Strong approval was given by the Rehabilitation Sub-Committee of the N.Z.R.S.A-. at the annual conference, to-day, to a remit that the decentralisation of the State Advances Corportaion and the Rehabilitation Department be accorded urgency. The remit sought autonomy for a greater number of district offices. It was pointed out at present all business in Canterbury, both financial and otherwise, had to be completed through the Christchurch offices; with attendant long delays. An Auckland and Dunedin remit, amended and confirmed, was: “That the maximum furniture loan be increased to £2OO free of interest and be repaid at the present rate per week for £lOO.

A Dunedin remit was approved, after a long discussion, in the form “that the Dominion executive endeavours to secure an amendment to the Transport Act to ensure that when additional vehicle authorities are warranted or where a change of ownership of an existing licence is taking place, that licenses shall be made available, compulsorily, to qualified ex-servicemen where ex-servicemen are desiring to .set up in transport business, whether in competition with the railways or not. Officers Elected. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:— Dominion. President, Mr. B. J. Jacobs. Dominion Vice-President, Mr. C. O. Bell.

Dominion Executive Committee: District representatives: Messrs K. Fraser, K. W. R. Glasgow (Auckland and Northland), M. R. Jones, J. A. D. Ritchie (Waikato-Bay of Plenty); J. H. McKay, J. Abel (Wellingtori-Tar-anaki-West Coast); P. H. G. Bennett, M. J. Mason (Wellington-East Coast); Major-General H. K. Kippenberger, T. G. Taylor (Canterbury-Nelson-Marlborough and Westland), and E. C. Hale, and D. F. Bauchop (OtagoSouthland). Other members are: Messrs W. E. Leadley, E. F. Willcox, C. J. Tustin, W. D. Haydon and E. C. W. Nathan. Representatives: Messrs W. E.
