WESTPORT DISTRICT MILK SUPPLY AGAIN DISCUSSED
The need for an organisation in-the Buller district to grant licences for the sale of milk and to see that a satisfactory state of affairs existed between the producer and the vendor was explained in a letter received from the Milk Marketing Division at a meeting of the Buller County Council this week.
The division proposed that the council should be the milk licensing authority for the district. It was stated by members that’ the subject had been brought up before but the Borough Council had rejected the scheme. Councillors considered that the matter should be gone into more fully, and for this purpose appointed the chairman (Mr. J. Ward), CT. M. Durkin, and the clerk-engineer (Mr. C. F. Schadick) as a committee to submit a report on the Milk Marketing Division’s proposal.
