AERO CLUB PROGRESS

RESUMPTION OF FLYING a EXPECTED SOON PREPARATIONS IN HAND 1 Preparations for the early resumption of flying are being carried, but at West Coast aero clubs. It is expected that a meeting of the West Coast United Aero Club will be held early in April, after which flying activities should not be long delayed. -7 The United Club is the parent body on the West Coast and to it are affiliated the Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika, Ross, and Wataroa cluljs. It is understood that there is also soxhe prospect of a club being formed at Reefton.

Information was received at last evening’s meeting of the Greymouth Aero Club that a machine would again be on loan to the United Aero Club, as was the case before the war. In addition, it was stated that Tiger Moths were being made available for purchase. Twelve new members were elected to the club last evening and satisfaction was expressed at the enthusiasm being shown. Members were carrying out painting work, on the clubrooms and working bees were being arranged each Saturday, it was reported. It was decided to hold another social evening, the date being fixed for March 26.

In response to a request by the Mayor (Mr. F. A. Kitchingham), three members, Messrs. E. M. Good, M. Pearson, and G. Meagher, were appointed to represent .the club at a public meeting to decide on the form of the proposed war memorial for Greymouth.
