REEFTON v. RUNANGA

REEFTON, March 17

The contest for the Westland Breweries Cup between Runanga and Reefton took place yesterday on the Reefton Bowling Club’s green. Five rinks from each club took part, and isome excellent heads were witnessed. The contest ended in a win for Runanga by 143 points to 99. The rinks were as follow (Runanga being mentioned first): Flood, Currie, Gourlay, Armstrong (s) 34 v. Baird, Newcombe, Wright, Willis (s) 16. Hillhouse, Watterson, King, Warburton (s) 34 v. Ebbett, Cutbush, Buist, Clark (s) 17. Wright, A. Patterson, Maskell, White (s) 25 v. Austin, Chandler, Noble, Wight (s) 15. Kitchen, Hetherington, Gallon, Sharp (s) 30 v. McElwee, McCallum, Bonifacio, Cleaver (s) 27. Lemon, Maskell, R. Smith, Massey (s) 18 v. Dellaca, Fraser, Fennell, Auld (s) 24. During the past week the play for the cup for winning leads took place between Mess Ts. S. Newcombe and W. F. Archer, who both had the same number of wins. Newcombe won by 23 points to 14. NOBLE ADAMS SHIELD A Buller Centre team, comprising seven rinks, from Westport, Millerton, Denniston and R.S.A., visited Nelson during the week-end, and won the« Noble Adams Shield from Nelson, which has held the trophy since 1936. Buller team won by 170 points to 162.
