WELLINGTON, March 17. The cricket match between St. Bede’s College (Christchurch) and St. Patrick’s College (Silverstream) was completed to-day on the Silverstream ground, and resulted in a first innings win for Silverstream. On Saturday St. Bede’s made 62 runs in the first innings, to which Silverstream replied with 170. In the second innings St. Bede’s made 201 for seven wickets declared, and at the dose of play Silverstream had 76 runs on for the loss of six wickets. Silverstream thus required 18 runs more for an outright win. Next year’s game will be played on St. Bede’s ground. St. Bede’s had lost one wicket for 37 in the second innings when play was resumed to-day. Responsible for more than half of the second innings total were Wilson (53 not out) and Scully (50). O’Dowd took four wickets for 61 runs. Highest scorers in Silverstream’s second innings were Buckley (17) and Ongley (15 not out). Bowling for St. Bede’s, Wilson and Coffey each took three wickets. To-day’s play was interrupted by rain, and the wicket was sticky.
