BALCHIN CUP FINALISED. The Balchin Cup competition was finalised on Saturday afternoon, when on the Recreation Ground, Greymouth. Tahua (Hokitika) defeated Mawhera by four goals to nil, to win the Cup. The match was played at a fast pace, and some good hockey was witnessed. Tahua led by three to nil at half-time, and scored the final goal late in the second spell. Cooper (2), Sumner, and Powers scored the goals. Messrs Todd and Butler were the umpires. TE RAMA DEFEAT COBDEN. Te Rama defeated Cobden by four goals to three, aftei- an even game. Cobden led by the odd goal in five at half-time, but in the second spell Te Rama had the better of play, and added two more goals, while Cobden failed to add to their tally. T. Best (3) and M. Best netted for the winners, and M. Eatwell (2) and J. Weir scored for Cobden. Messrs Sloss and Newton were the umpires. WESLEY DEFEAT PACIFIC. Wesley defeated Pacific comfortably by three goals to one. Anderson (2) and Straker scored for Wesley, and D Knapp for Pacific. Messrs Heaton and Newton wore the umpires. N.Z. LADIES’ FINAL. GISBORNE. September 4. Eastern Southland won the final of the ladies’ hockey tourney by 8 to 1 against, Ashburton. INDIAN TEAM WINS. SYDNEY, September 4. The Indian hockey team defeated a country team at Miidgee on Saturday by 9 to nil.
