AHAURA NOTES
An enjoyable, evening was spent in the Memorial ’ Hall last Wednesday evening, to bid farewell to Rev. W. A. and Mrs Beaumont, who are leaving on Thursday next for Cheviot. There was a large gathering of friends, including visitors from Waiuta Ikamatua and Te Kinga. Mr John Burrows, on belialf of the residents, presented Rev. and Mrs Beaumont, with a beaten brass fire-screen and wallet of notes, expressing regret at their departure, also paying tributes to the good work Mr Beaumont had done in the Valley. Mrs F. Brown, on belialf of the St. Andrew’s* Ladies' Guild, presented Mrs Beaumont with a fireside companion, and extended best wishes from ' The Guild. Mr J. Sheedy spoke on behalf of the R.S.A., and Mr J. Williams, of Te Kinga. endorsed the previous speakers’ remarks. Messrs A. Flatt, and K. Bondall will take charge of. the parochial district of Ahaura and Brunnerton. Mr J. N. Stevenson. Secretary of the Nelson Diocese, paid a brief visit to Ahaura on Friday. Mr R. Drayton, Kopara, left by Saturday evening’s rail-car for Christchurch. Mr J. Becker has returned home, after spending a few days in Christchurch.
