Mikhail Vodopianov, chief pilot of Schmidt’s Polar expedition, in an article in the "Pravda,” discloses that the proposed Antarctic expedition in 1938 will sail aboard the new icebreaker Josef Stalin, with five twoengined planes and three years’ provisions.

The plans include 70 survey flights, for the purpose of mapping the South Polar region. Vodopianov will be tlie leader of the expedition. The other aims include further expeditions in. the Arctic, and a round-the-world flight from Moscow, travelling eastward, in 82 hours.
