CARDINALS’ MEETING

COMMUNISM AND NAZISM

[by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.]

ROME. June 21. ( Great importance is attached to a secret meeting of the Congregation for Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs attended by 11 cardinals, over which the Pope presided, which is a. rare occurrence.

It is believed that the gathering, discussed Spain and Germany. This is borne out by the strong wording of the Apostolic letter which the Pope sent to the Eucharistic Congress at Posen. It chiefly condemned Communism, but many phrases of it were almost equally strictures on Nazism.

BAVARIAN SCHOOLS CLOSED

BERLIN, June 21

While the Pope was conferring with the cardinals, Herr Adolf Wagner, Governor of Bavaria, announced that 11 Catholic schools in Bavaria had been closed, and the rest secularised. , Ho added that the Pope went over Germany, which, however, would be happier if he ordered the representatives of the Church to submit to State authority.
