RAILWAY SHARES

SELASSIE v. MUSSOLINI.

[BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN.-pCOPYRIGHT.]

PARIS, June 9. Signor Mussolini is the defendant in an action brought by Haile Selassie seeking the recovery of £'300,000 for shares in the French railway from ' Djibouti to Addis Ababa. Haile Selassie originally received the shares from France in recognition of his granting- permission for the railway to pass through Abyssinian territory. When Haile Selassie fled from Abyssinia he decided to sell the stock, but Italy objected on.thq ground that it was owned by the Abyssinian Government, to which Haile Selassie was no .longer attached.Haile Selassie, however, contends that he still holds the title to the stock as head of a Government recognised by France, which has not recognised the Italian conquest.
