GREYMOUTH SUCCESSES
TRINITY COLLEGE OF MUSIC. Word has just been received from the Trinity College of Music that two Local Exhibitions have been awarded by the Board of Examiners to Greymouth students. These awards are made on the results of the Practical Examinations held in 1936. The local exhibitioners are:— Mona Frances Murray, winner of Intermediate Exhibition (violin playing), value £5. Mavis Blake, winner of Junior Exhibition (violin playing), value '£4. Both exhibitioners are pupils of the Sisters of Mercy. The local secretary has received word! that the College has appointed Mi- Anderson Tyrer examiner in practical subjects for the South Island, in 1937. Mr Tyrer is due to arrive in Christchurch about July 15. ASSOCIATED BOARD. In the awards made by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London, two other Greymouth candidates, pupils of the Sisters of Mercy, were successful as medallists. Una Murray, silver . medallist, Advanced Grade, secured the second highest distinction marks in New Zealand (139 out of 150), for violin playing. Rona Peillon, gold medallist, Intermediate Grade, obtained the highest distinction marks in New Zealand (140 out of 150) for violin playing. These awards are made on the results of the 1936. practical examinations.
