GREYMOUTH MEN'S MATCHES A large number of members of the Greymouth Men’s Golf Club took part in matches at the Kaiata links over the week-end. L.G.U. MATCH. The L.G.U. medal match, postponed last week, will be played on Wednesday. The draw has been published. YANKEE TOURNAMENT. A trophy has been presented by Mrs A. W. Wilkinson for a Yankee tournament to be played throughout the season. Competitors are advised to get as many as possible ol their matches over early in the year. IKAMATUA CLUB The first annual general meeting of the recently formed Ikamatua Golf Club was held last week at the residence of Mr. W. O'Malley those present showing enthusiasm that augurs well for the future success of the club. The election of officers tor the ensuing year resulted: Patron: Mr. Mirfin (senior); President: Mr. J. Green, Vice-presidents:—Messrs. W. O’Malley and B. Mirfin, Secretary and Treausrer: Mr A. McLennan; Executive Committee:—President, Secretary and Messrs. W. O’Malley, L. O’Malley, B. Mirfin and F. J. O’Malley. Auditor, Mr. H. C. Cullen.
On the motion of Messrs. L. O’Malley and J. Green Mr. R. Wylie was appointed Club Captain. After some discussion the subscription was fixed at: —Ladies 10/6, Men £l/1/- providing members are financial by the 31st May 1936. After this date in addition to the ordinary subscription a. nomination fee will be charged this being fixed at 5/- for ladies and 10/- for men. The Club colours are to be Green and Gold and opening day was set down for Sunday, May 17. It was resolved to send invitations to other Golt Clubs in the Grey Valley to attend.
Prior to this meeting' residents of the locality had met and decided to’ form a club since when a great deal of work had been done by these en 7 thusiasts in marking out the course and preparing the greens which already show promise of being as good as any on the Coast. Thanks are due to Mr. W. O’Malley for his generosity in placing at the disposal of the Club this ideal site which has given the residents of Ikamatua and surrounding districts a new interest in the field of sport.
