DEAN INGE’S DISCOVERY. [BY CABLE —PBEBS ASSN. —OOPYBIGHT.] (Recd. September 3, 1 p.m.) LONDON, September 3. Dean Inge addressing the Modern Churchman’s Conference at Birmingham, criticised the Old Testament, much of which, ho said, was of little religious value to-day. A great part was unintelligible to ordinary English readers. The so-called historical books contained much unwholesome reading. Personally, with his own children, he had concentrated on the New Testament and gave very few lessons from the Old Testament .
