The negotiating committee were thanked for their services, and a personal message was sent to the chief Japanese delegate, M. Okada, expressing appreciation of the unfailing' courtesy shown by him and his colleagues during the negotiators.. Speaking after the meeting, Sir Thomas Barlow said he conveyed to the full committee the official assurance he had received from Sir Horace Wilson that the position would receive immediate urgent consideration from the Government, who would keep in close touch with the committee. Further conferences would be held with the Board of Trade after the Government had examined the matter and clarified the position, as between them and the Japanese Government.
