COUNCIL MEETING. c t The monthly meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Golf Associa- 1 tion (Inc.) was held at the secretary’s t office, Wellington, on Monday, when there were present: Sir Alexander c Roberts (chairman), Messrs A. D. S. t Duncan, W. E. A. Gill, W. A. Kiely, t J. H. Drake, A. R. Sclanders, and G. e o. Sutton (secretary). r

Prior to the council meeting, a special general meeting was held, when 74 clubs were represented either personally or by proxy, and the following two resolutions, of which due notice had been given, were passed: — (a) That the council be authorised to deduct from each affiliated club's subscription for the year commencing August 1, 1933, an amount equal to 25 per cent, of the subscription payable under the rules.

(b) That the association shall pay out of its revenue, for the year commencing August 1, 1933, a sum of £lOO to the New Zealand Ladies’ Golf Union.

A draft of the revenue account for the financial year’ ended July 31, 1933, was before the council, and it was decided, before finalising the account, to debit this year’s revenue with the sum of £7O, which is to be held in reserve for next year’s Kirk-Windeyer Cup expenses, and to transfer the balance of surplus revenue, £lO/17/3, to the accumulated fund. The draft balance-sheet presented showed a surplus of assets of £650/2/5, in addition to the reserve referred to above. A resignation was received from the Canterbury Agricultural College Golf Club owing to its course being unavailable this season.

1933 Championship Meeting.—-It was resolved that the application of the Titirangi Golf Club to charge gate money on the occasion of the championship events be approved of. Standard Scatch Scores. —A fair proportion of the clubs have already returned their new standard scratch score forms, but it was resolved that, owing to the nearness of the date of the championship meeting and the fact that all clubs have not yet returned their forms, the question of rearranging the standard scratch scores be left over until early next year.

Southland Golf Association. —It was resolved to affirm a previous view expressed by the council that this association cannot be recognised by the council unless its membership consists entirely of clubs which are affiliated to this association.

Women’s Golf Team. —The chairman’s action was confirmed in authorising the secretary to ask two of the Auckland golf clubs whether they would be prepared to arrange a match between a team of Auckland representatives (men) and the women’s team on Thursday, August 17, the day before the women leave for Australia, and it was reported that the arrangements are being made. Forthcoming tournaments were advised to the association as follow: — Hokitika Golf Club (West Coast championships), August 23, 24, and 25; open, amateur, and professional championship of Australia, Royal Melbourne links, September 2 to 14; New Zealand open and amateur championships, Titirangi links, October 6 to 14; Ashburton Golf Club (Mid-Canter-burv tournament), October 21 and 23.
