LINESMAN’S DEATH
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. [PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, March 31. Th© inquest regarding the death of Francis Richard Dykes, a newlymarried linesman employed by the hydro-electric branch of the Public Works Department at Napier, whose body was found at the base of a high-power standard, among the hills at Khandallah, on March 25, was resumed to-day. Dr C. G. Kemp described a visit paid by the deceased on the night of March 15. He complained of headaches and insomnia. H© had had no quarrels with his wife. In response to questions by counsel for an insurance company, Dr Kemp said long-sustained insomnia might result in the deceased being at the time of his death, unaware of his surroundings and immediate circumstances, but there was no direct evidence of this. The Coroner found that deceased had climbed a power standard, caught hold of a wire, and been electrocuted.
