SPORTS AND GAMES

RUGBY FOOTBALL. PARIS, November 4. At a joint meeting the French Rugby Federation and the Amateur Rugby Union took opposing sides in a controversy following the British Rugby Union’s demand that France should purge out professionalism. It was agreed to examine a reorganisation scheme, including the establishment of absolute amateurism, the suppression of the regional championship, and the creation of a committee of management to administer the rules. It was also agreed to create a committee of three who would guarantee that French internationals 1 were fully amateur, and would be responsible for their good behaviour. It is now hoped that the internatonal games between France and Britain can bo resumed during the present season.
