VIGNE DESTROYED [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] SYDNEY, November 7. Vigne developed a bad leg after the Caulfield Cup race, and was destroyed yesterday. STREPHON LOST ALL FORMLONDON, November 5. Strephon, who was second favourite, although tipped to win, was unplaced in a £l5O mile and a-quarter race at Worcester. There were nine starters. Strephon has been allotted 8.8. both in the November Handicap and the Derby Cup, but in the critics’ opinion, has no chance in either race. GREYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB. MONTHLY MEETING. Mr T. E. Coates presided over the monthly meeting of the Greymouth Jockey Club held yesterday afternoon, Messrs H. D. James, Herb Moore, Kim Williams, G. R. Harker, W. H. Parfitt, and the secretary, Mr M. J. Fogarty being also present. The programme for the midsummer meeting, providing stakes to the value of £l4lO, was approved. The matter of probable nominations at the next meeting was discussed, and on the recommendation of the Chairman, it was resolved that Mr Fogarty proceed to Christchurch with a view to obtaining the assistance of owners and trainers at the fixture.

The Westland Racing Club advised that it had discussed the question of a 5/- totalisator, and the Committee had decided that it was not favourable, it being regarded as a “very false step to take.” DISTRICT COMMITTEE. Mr T. E. Coates presided over a meeting of the District Committee of the Greymouth Jockey Club, held yesterday. It was decided to offer no objection to a renewal of M. Conza’s three months conditional license. The Racing Conference advised that V. A. Lee had been granted a trainer’s license, conditional on his reporting each month as to the number of horses he has in training. The application by J. H. Moore for a jockey’s license was recommended. A grant of £l5 was made to the Westland Racing Club to assist in the re-building of an ambulance room at the Club’s course, the first room having been destroyed by fire.
