COAL AND GAS SHARES

AUCKLAND, September 2.

Coal and gas shares had a fair run last week, special attention being given to Taupiri, which started at £1 9/6, rose to £1 9/9 and finished up at. £1 8/10. Rights to new issue were also traded. Sales were made at 6/and closing prices showed buyers offering 6/3. Holders of the new issue will be entitled to share in the dividend as from October 1 on the amount paid up. Westport shares have been off the local market lately, but a parcel was offered on Thursday at £1 14/- and found a buyer next day, marking an advance of 1/9 on the previous sale. Grey Valleys were neglected early in the week, but a buyer again came forward on Friday offering £1 6/- with a seller at £1 6/9. Auckland gas was constantly in demand, starting the week at £1 4/2 and finishing up at £1 4/4.
