QREYJIOUTH RETURNS During July £3,283 15/- was collect* ed in customs dues by the Greymouth Customs Office, the amount for the corresponding period in 1928 being £3,199 9/5. RAINFALL Rainfall for the past month in Greymouth totalled 7.18 inches. Rain fell on 13 days, the highest daily fall being recorded on July 14, when 1.50 inches fell. During July of last year 4.27 inches fell, over a period of 16 days. . SHIPPING. During the past month 32 vessels, aggregating 17,516 tons, entered the port of Greymouth > arid 30 vessels, totalling 16,661 tons, were cleared outwards. All but one auxiliary schooner were steamers. DUNEDIN TOTALS. DUNEDIN, July 31. The Customs returns for July, are as follows: Customs £77,810/16/9, beei’ duty. £17,819/19/11, petrol tax •,.£7,425/4/-,. tyre tax £922/3//-. For July 1928, the returns were as follow:—Customs £77,132/8/7, beer £17,378/0/2, petrol £2236/14/-, tyre £1069. The figures for the seven months ended July 31 were: Customs £447,646/13/-, (1928 £426,016/15/11), beer £134,205/2/5 (1928, £136,373 18/3), petrol £41,315/8/8 (1928, £19,713/10/1), tyre £6417/12/-, (1928, £7206/3/-). The vital statistics for the month of July (with those for the same month of last year in parentheses) are as follow: Births 123 (136), deaths 100 (98), marriages 56 (44).
