TWO ROCKETS FIRED. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 31. The Acting Secretary of the G.P.O. has received th© following from the officer in charge of the Radio Station at Awanui at 7.30 p.m.— At 6.35 flim., the Postmaster of Awanui reported that two rockets with red lights had been seen in a direction east, south-east, at approximately 6 p.m. I have communicated with Cape Maria Van Diemen, who states that his vision does not extend east of North Cape, and with Cape Brett, who reports that the tug Lyttelton passed south at 5.30 p.m. (therefore not in question), and a vessel resembling the Maui Pomare passed north about 11 a.m., these being the only vessels noticed.
