TRADE WITH RUSSIA.

LONDON, April 17.
The President of the Board of Trade stated that the imports from Russia to this country for the last 12 months, amounted-in round figures to £25,500,000 and the export from this country to Russia amounted to £2,700,000 and re-exports £2,084,000.
REPARATIONS ENQUIRY

During the coui'se of the lengthy sitting of the Reparations experts it became apparent that Herr Schacht was of the opinion that the Allies’ demands were excessive. He finally made suggestions which he undertook to embody in a memorandum, which he is submitting to-day.
MONTE CARLO’S DECLINE.
PARIS, April 17.
The famous Monte Carlo is definitely on the decline. Its popularity is challenged by San Remo, Cannes and Nice, which are attracting a- greater number each year. The management of the Monte Carlo casino reported the net income at eighty million francs compared with ninety-one millions last year, and ninety-eight millions in 1927. SMALLPOX SCARE. LONDON, April 17. Owing to vigorous representation by 'English railways, the French vaccination. order has been temporarily suspended. It is understood that the order does not apply to passengers from Australia. TEA DUTY ABOLITION. DELHI, April 17. Leading tea dealers at Calcutta are unanimous that the abolition of tea duty in Britain will appreciably increase the consumption of tea in the United Kingdom, while the preference that was conceded was so small that its abolition will not hurt the Indian tea industry. The dealers and brokers here scout the possibility of the Java planters seriously competing with those of India, except possibly in common and medium teas. The manager Of a leading blending house here, considered that abolition/ of the preference duty would* help, India and would increase the exports to out-markets, such as New Zealand, Australia arid America.
