QUEENSLAND SHOOTINGS
AN ITALIAN VENDETTA
(Australian Press Association.) (By Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright.)
BRISBANE, August 24
Concern is Felt in Cairns as to the frequency of shootings around Tunisfail sugar growing district, where many Sicilians are farming. The murder of Aifio Patana, who was ambushed at his homo a fortnight ago, is arousing the public to the necessity of prohibiting foreigners possessing firearms.
Most of- the Sicilians know .very little of the English language, and police investigations are thus difficult, hut it has been fairly established that Patana’s death was the outcome of a vendetta.
