OPERA HOUSE. Wednesday.—A double star programme will be screened on Wednesday. The main feature is a Thos. H. Ince production “Galloping Fish, with an all star cast, including Sidney Chaplin, Louise Fazenda, Ford Sterling and Chester Conklin. “Freddie,” the clever seal featured with Louise Fazenda in “The .Galloping Fish,” is a star vaudeville performer, having ap_, peared on big time circuits since 1916, He does some amazing juggling and fancy swimming in the new Infce comedy special, and performs some remarkable acquatic tricks with Miss Fazenda. Chief among “Freddie’s,” accomplishments is the “Tight Rope Stunt,” in which he balances a bull on his nose while walking a tight rope. He also claps his flippers, climbs a ladder while balancing a ball, juggles a hat, and 'manages to furnish a laugh every time he appears on the screen. The other star feature on the same programme features Charles Ray in “Smudge.” “Galloping Fish” will be shown at the matinee on Wednesday. TOM MIX. Saturday’s attraction will feature Tom Mix in his latest film, and the first episode of a. new serial, “In the Days of Daniel Boone.” WILLIAM HEUGHAN. Of Mr Willliam Heughan, the world famed dramatic basso cantante, who will give’the first of his concerts .in the Opera House to-night, the “Daily Telegraph,” Sydney, writes“ The incomparable Scottish basso—such is amazing versatility, which, aided by a voice of regular beauty and power and a most engaging personality, stamps him as one of the greatest bassos who have visited this country. A triumph of dramatic vocalism was Mr Heugh-, an’s singing of Moxissorgsky’s ‘Song of the Flea.’ His voice is rich and vibrant throughout its remarkably extensive range, and perfectly controlled. . . More than a singer, he is an accomplished actor,-” He is a singer, who, in the opinion of critics throughout the world, stands alone in his interpretation and ■ dramatisation of the classic and folk songs of England, of Scotland, and of Ireland, as well as

an operatic artiste of the very front rank. He is ably assisted by Hyman Lenzer, the sensational young violinist, who by reason of his virtuosity, temperament, and profound musicianship, never fails to enrapture his audience. He is further assisted by Gladys Sayer, the famous pianist, who has received wide-world recognition for the beauty and brilliance of her art, both as a soloist and an accompanists. ” The above company will play at Greymouth to-night and Thursday, and at Hokitika on Wednesday. The Blaketow'n Citizens’ Hall Committee have decided to cater for their euchre patrons by running a series of euchres to be held every Thursday evening. The Committee are out to do their utmost to jnake these entertainments a success and to make the evenings as pleasant as possible for euchre enthusiasts. Don’t forget the aggregate prize at the termination of the first seres of euchres, which will be something worth playing for. HOCKEY CLUB BALL. Lovers of dancing are reminded of the Grand Annual Ball of the State Collieries Ladies’ Hockey Club, to be held in the Miners’ Hall, Runanga, on Friday night.
