I last saw my brother alive on. April 26, between 12 noon and 1 p.m., in Boundary Street, near thb tobacconist’s. -lie looked all right then. He- was living at tjie Golden Eagle Hotel. He has never spoken to me about any illness, though he had been Off work for some time owing to an injury in the mine. It was about two or three months before Christmas when Lhe was hurt. On the afternoon of April 27 I made a post mortem on the body of John McLeod, at the morgue at Greymouth. On external examination I found an abrasion of the nose, and also nose fractured. Internal Examination showed valvular disease of the heart, also a large congested liver. Fatty condition of internal .organs. There were no external marks to show the cause of death, the fractured nose being probably caused by the deceased falling on the ground. In my opinion the cause of death was heart'failure, accelerated by liver condition.” ohn Greenless said: “I am a police constable, stationed at Greymouth.
