FEDERAL POLITICS
MINISTERIAL PLANS.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.)
MELBOURNE, June 25. Unless the Hughes Government should be defeated in the meantime, it is unlikely that the Federal elections will be held until the present Parliament expires by effluxion of time m February. , It is understood that Mr Hughes s recent stumping trip through the various States convinced him that nothing is to be gained by an call'd" appeal to the people. Air Hughes has announced that his Cabinet has put the finishing touches on its programme for next session. It is understood the Governor-General’s speech will deal with supply, sunoiannuation for the Public Service, Treaty ratification, the proposals Jcr a tariff agreement between Australia and New Zealand, the re-distribution of seas, amendments to tho Defence and Arbitration Acts, uniformity of ein.pi'uy logislation, and land and income taxation. NEW SOUTH AVALES CABINET. SYDNEY, June 24. Though it has been officially denied there seems to be some ground for the rumour that a contributing fi ctor to Sir T. Henley’s resign itirn from the Nfw South AVales Cabinet was a want of unanimity among the Ministers over the North Shore harbour bridge.
