DEBATING SOCIETY

The regular meeting of the Cobden Debating Club was held last evening, Avhen there was only a fair attendance of members, due no doubt to the prevalence of influenza which has laid aside a good number of residents. In view of the debate with St. Paul's Guild, that takes place on Monday next, the team selected confined the evening to preparation work, and it is confidently anticipated that the arguments to be propounded by them in°opposition of the principle of "Indentured Labour" will be difficult to combat. The choosing of a team to participate at the forthcoming Competitions was confirmed, and it, is expected that the various members will infuse a little interest into the work by an .individual effort to make perfect the rendering of the different items allotted them.
