There was a large and appreciative audience, at the Orchestral Society's concert last evening, when an exceptionally good programme was gone through. The orchestra under the able conductorship of Mr G. T. Moss has made rapid strides and last night the improvement, it was noticeable, was well maintained. The various sel'ecti/oiis;: — March: "Under Freedoms Flag," sek/ction: "Enxanii," selection: "Bells of Normanby," cap-

,' I rice : "Solitude." selection: "A Night [ in Venice" were all well rendered, the tone and expression being cxcel- | lent. The ajidience were not slow to | recognise the high merit attained and I the hearty applause which followed each item was a proof of tho appreciation, Mr K. S. Dillon was in fine voice and rendered "For All Etj ernity" with much success. The violin obligato by Mr G. Holder was i well played. Mrs Absolam, who lias I become a firm favourite with Givymouth audiences, sang very sweetly "The World of Dreams." Tho ileni I was a perfect (rem and the audience j demanded aft encore, which was well i and pleasing rendered. Mr Turn Goodall's comet solo "The Ploughboy" was very artistically rendered, the item being a great treat. The encore was exceptionally well rendered "Hail Smiling Morn," a quartette by Airs Harley, and Messrs G. Holder, Harry and Fred Harley was a very pleasing item and was greatly enjoyed by the audience who applauded heartily, and demanded . an encore. . The second piece was very excellently rendered ; in fact was a gem Mr Fred Harley in "Tho Minstrel" was heard to advantage. Mr Moss on behalf of tho orchestra thanked the people for attending in such large numbers. It was encoiu'aging and gratifying to the members to know that there efforts were so highly appreciated. Tho singing of 'God Save the King' brough a very enjoyable evening to a close.
