YOUNG 'MANS ADMISSION “TO KEEP THINGS GOING A young- man, Charles William Bye, admitted the theft of /J 6 as 6d from several business places in Tuakau, at the Pukekolre Police Court. . Constable A. j. Maiden said that in response to a call to Mr G. W allace’s garage, at Tuakau on Wednesday, he found accused in the office, lie admitted the theft of ios from the till. lie was arrested and later admitted the 1 theft of £$ from Mr S. Conolly’s shop, 14s from Messrs J. 11. Heyworths and Son’s garage, and 8s Gd from Mrs Olga Ifwerson. Accused said he wits unemployed, and as things were pretty hard at his home, he tried to get ai few shillings to keep things going, pretending that he had a job. He expressed regret for what lie had done. Constable Maiden said there was something' in what accused .said about having stolen to help to keep the home going. If he got a. shilling lie would see that Gd of it went towards helping hi.s parents and other members of the family. Tho Bench, addressing accused, said that while it was pleasing to learn that he. tried to assist his par-

cats, ho had, by committing- theft, brough disgrace on them. He would bo placed ‘"on probation for 12 mfonths.
