ARAPUNI REPAIRS

NO NEW DEVELOPMENTS BORING AND GROUTING Systematic boring - and grouting continues in the. Arapuni headrace, but tlic source of, the seepage lias still to be discovered. According- to advices received by Mr i\ \Y. Kurort, Engineer-in-Chief to the Public Works Department, it has been ascertained that water will not pass, as did compressed air, between two bore holes untie-, the cut off wall, and this discourages the belief, held by tho engineers, that discovery of the elusive water path was at hand. Mr Fui kert stated that boring would bo continued at close intervals and the holes would be grouted as tho boring proceeded. It was expected that the- portion of the headrace covered by tho coffer dam would be drained, by to-morrow, enabling- repairs to lie made to the damaged lining.
