That the Public Works Department "bo written to and informed that- the Council views with great concern and anxiety the continual interruptions m the supply from Mangahao. such interruptions causing consumers endless trouble and inconvenience. This recommendation from the electrical committee met with the support of the Borough Council last evening at Palmerston. jn liis report, the electrical engineer (Air J. M\ Muir) stated: “The bulk supply from tho Power Board was first taken on August 1. Since that date it has failed on six occasions, and oil three occasions it was cut oil and our own plant- used to supply back by arrangement, making a total of nine interruptions of a total period ol 10 hours 21 minutes in the bulk supply in a period of 25 days. On August 18 the bulk supply was off for 1 hour 25 minutes. Our plant was started up iii eight minutes, thus saving a shutdown ol 1 hour 1.7 minutes duiatidh. On September 9 the bulk supply was off -17 minutes. Our plant was started up in seven minutes, saving a Quitdown of 40 minutes. Both these failures occurred in tho daytime "hen such, an interruption in the supply would have caused considerable loss of time and labour to consumers, had our standby plant- not been available.
