The Feilding 'Borough Council forwarded the following “resolution for ibo Palmerston North Borough Council’s comilde ration last night: “I.hat as the ALoiiaivalu Gorge Road is the connecting link between east and west of the North Island and is largely used for all kinds of traffic by people from Wellington and Napier on one side to New Plymouth on the other, and the cost ol lormafion and maintenance is very heavy and is borne only by those bodies in the near vicinity this Council requests the member for the district to use every endeavour to have the road, when completed, taken, over by the Government as a national highway and further that this Council communicate with the other local bodies directly concerned requesting them to take similar steps.” The Council considered the matter last evening and decided to support the suggestion, which was characterised by CV. W. L. Fitzberbert as a very good one. Cr. Al. A. Eliott: Aiy opinion is that if ever there is a road the Government should take over, tlie Alanawatu Gorge roud is once. (;r. R.
