BOXING IN ENGLAND.
WELLS BEATS LLOYD. London, April 25. Bombardier Wells boat Albert Lloyd, the Australian heavyweight boxer, formerly of Auckland. In the tenth round Lloyd's seconds throw in the towel. Lloyd put up a. plucky fight, but Wells was master practically throughout He seemed to know lie was opposed to a boxer rather than a fighter, and made wonderful use of his superior height and reach, punishing Lloyd severely with lefts to the jaw in every round. Wells' footwork was porfect. In the seventh he had Lloyd down for eight seconds. The Australian gamely continued, but the end came in a sensational tenth round. Wells first floored Lloyd for seven seconds, and then knocked him clean through the ropes for eight. Lloyd again returned, and Wells thereupon had him reeling round the ring like a drunken man. The throwing in of the towel saved a knockout. MATCH FOR JIM TRACY. New York, April 25. Jim Tracy, the Australian ~ 'heavyweight boxer, at one time of Auckland, has been matched to meet hero on May 13 Luis Firpo, the Argentine champion, who made a sensational debut in New York by knocking out several promising heavyweights.
