THE LITTLE ENGLANDER.
Thf Little Englander is the stum-bling-block to Imperial Federation. He will no more let go of his Imperial PrerogatiVe than he Avill giA r e Ireland Home Rule. He is giving almost daily exhibitions of his littleness. Look at Sir Edward Carson, for instance, carping over the details of a register for a general election when the whole of Britain needs to concentrate upon fighting and munitions, not upon A r ote-registering. The fact is, there is too much petty politics and too little practical patriotism in the British Parliament. And that very pettiness makes foropposition to tho Curtis Idea. If the Little Englauder kicks against giving Home Rule to Ireland, Avhat is he going to say or do when it is proposed that ho should be shorn of his imperial privileges and be given Home Rule for England only? Be it remembered against him that he is politically narrow and geographically ignorant. The average man of London and Manchester knoAvs no more of NeAv Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Canada than he does of Antarctica. Yet that same aA-erago man, at the ballot-box, politically rules not only Great Britain, but Greater Britain Overseas; whilst Aye of the Overseas Dominions can, by our vote, govern only our oaaoi particular bit of Dominion.
