THE BOWLING CLUB.
COST OF WATER CONNECTION.
A meeting of the committee of tlie Feilding Bowling Club was held in Mr J. T. Barry's office last night, Mr John Cobbe, Vice-President, presiding. It was decided to hold a general meeting o:i the 2*2 nd inst. to confirm the revised rules. Members who intend competing are advised that entries for the big tournament at Wellington close next Saturday. Challenge rinks irom the Palmerston and the 'Terrace End Club.s are coming to Feilding next Saturday after the Dixon Cup and Yates feathers.
In several eases in the borough where ratepayers applied for connection with the water mains, the Borough Council agreed on the condition that the ratepayer should pay the whole cost of making the connection from the main, whereas in ordinary circumstances the Council pays the cost of the connection up .to lho boundary fence. In all cases where the connection is mado, the ratepayer is called on to pay the full water rato on the capital value of/his property. The practice followed by the Council is thought to be relatively unjust, and tho matter will be discussed at to-night's meeting on the following motion, notice of which has been given by Cr. Harford: "That half water rates only be charged, until the cost is wiped out, to all ratepayers who have paid the cost of making water connections to their property within the borough."
