Files to hand hy the Chaadsha, at Cairns, give information of horrible atrocities in connection wi'h the Chinese revolution. Since the piratical attack on steamers, trade on tho Kwong Yuan Shin river is at a standstill. The banks of the river near Wuchow are strewn with corpses, many of them headless, and denuded of clothing. Following the massacre at- Wuchow, the soldiers indulged in a fearful orgy. After sixty prisoners, many of thani being the sons of the local gentry, and those suspected of favouring the loyalists, were beheaded, the soldiers, in their thirst for blood, cut | out the hearts and ate them, some cooking them, and others devouring them raw.
